As an attempt to give Tumblr a test drive, I am posting up a few pictures from the maiden voyage of the yacht Mignonette, a restored 30’ 1946(?) Maurice Griffiths yacht. This epic adventure was undertaken by the yacht owner (and my tutor) Mark along with myself and my Canadian flatmate Allison. The voyage took us from the home dock in Lydney, UK down the Bristol Channel to Cardiff, Wales on the first day. We tied up for the night at the Cardiff Yacht Club, then set sail again early the next morning back up the Channel bound for Bristol. The trip had its share of mishaps (jammed halyards, unexpected shallows, water pouring in the starboard side), but we made it in one piece, and the little boat proved a valiant and excellent little craft. With any luck, this will be the first of many adventures for Mignonette!
