This will be a short post, since I’m writing from the restaurant again with just a few minutes before I have to leave. The work is starting to catch up with me physically…woke up this morning stiff and sore all over. The weather’s back to being sunny and gorgeous, though, so we’re back at it with everything we’ve got. Yesterday saw the closing of the second trench as we bottomed out on the top of a massive sand dune, and the opening of a third trench nicknamed “Fat Boy” because it had an extra 2 meters added to the end to make it a 3m x 8m trench. Still nothing earth-shattering discovered yet, but we still have high hopes for the first trench, as we’re just getting down to the “interesting level” today or the next day.
All of the students went out to a place creatively named Sports Bar last night, and Mark tells me he heard them come in around 03:00am, so I have a feeling it may be a rough morning for a few. Mark has to run up to Norfolk to drop off two of our volunteers, and then he’ll be attending the grand opening of Scott’s museum this afternoon. This will feature local artifacts, some of which we dug up in November, and Scott’s advertised for locals to bring in other things they’ve found so that Mark can do a sort of Antiques Roadshow type thing and analyse things on the spot. We’re hoping for Scott that’s it’s a big success. All of this, of course, means that Mark’s out of the field all day, and I’m in charge. *muahahaha*
I plan on making the most of it.
Gotta run now. The Mayor has asked to borrow my computer for a little email, and it’s his birthday, so I have to be nice!
